Chachani Volcano: This volcano is recognized in Arequipa and throughout Peru for being considered one of the guardians of the city of Arequipa and for being the source of the white volcanic stone called “Sillar”, used in the construction of churches and houses. colonial buildings, which has earned Arequipa the nickname “The White City”. The ascent to this volcano is similar to a mountain hike, it is not technically complicated, but it is essential to have good acclimatization before undertaking it.

Itinerary Climb to Chachani 2 Days
DAY 1: Arequipa – Base Camp
At 8:00 in the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel. After three hours of travel, we will arrive at the starting point of the ascent, which is at 4,900 meters high. From here, we will begin to walk slowly for two hours, enjoying the landscape, flora and fauna that surrounds us.
Upon arriving at the base camp, located at 5,200 meters, we will set up our camp and enjoy a restorative lunch. Then, we will have time to rest and admire the beautiful sunset.
DAY 2: Base Camp – Summit – Arequipa
After enjoying breakfast, we will slowly begin the ascent to the summit at 2:00 in the morning. The summit is at 6,075 meters high, and during the next seven hours of travel, we will be able to witness a beautiful sunrise. Upon reaching the summit, we will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the city of Arequipa and several volcanoes, including Misti and Ampato.
After admiring the landscape, resting and taking photographs, we will begin the return to the base camp, which will take us approximately three hours. After lunch and rest, we will descend for two additional hours to 4,900 meters, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the city of Arequipa. We estimate to arrive in the city around 4:00 in the afternoon.
